…during your pregnancy
Being pregnant is a unique experience in your life. During this time, a lot is changing in your body so it needs to work hard. Most of us imagine this time as living in a wonderful bubble, in total health, a relaxed mind, and a strong body that supports the growth of a new life. During pregnancy, you are more sensitive and need an adjusted approach. Reflexology will help you maintain optimal health and can alleviate physical complaints.
Taking advantage of reflexology during pregnancy is good preparation for delivery. It strengthens your contact with your baby and will help with the following health complaints:
- Nausea
- Stomach acid
- Backache
- Pelvic pain
- Constipation
- Insomnia
- Fluid retention
- Fatigue
- Mood swings
- Bladder infection etc.
…when the baby is not in the ideal position before birth
You are also welcome to visit if the baby is in a breech or transverse position.
While most babies will settle in the right, head-down position between 33-36 weeks, some of them would rather lay or sit in a less usual pose. They may still change before delivery and there are different suggestions that you can read about on the internet. If those suggestions do not work though, stimulation via the reflex points of the feet and lower leg can also be a solution for such scenarios.
…when you are overdue
Reflexology can efficiently encourage your body to go into labor. During this massage, I stimulate different acupressure points that are usually avoided during pregnancy. This treatment is combined with a relaxing and calming massage of the feet. This way your little one gets the signs that you are ready to welcome her/him.
I suggest booking such treatments 3-5 days before a possible medical intervention. If you are past your due date, a treatment every 2 days is recommended. Even if labor does not start spontaneously, it will contribute to a more efficient labor. If possible, please plan the appointment for the end of the day.
If there is no reason for rush, I suggest a treatment that is aimed at preparing for birth. I will also show a few acupressure points that you (or your partner) can massage and that have a stimulating effect.
…after giving birth
We often hear it: Giving birth is like running a marathon. It is hard work to deliver a baby, with a lot of energy spent, hormones all over the place. New moms need time to recover. Treatments after giving birth to your little one will help you get into balance again, so that you can fully enjoy your motherhood and time with your newborn.
You can also come with your newborn and he/she can rest on you during the treatment.
